First time staying in Cairo and at a Marriott. From the minute we arrived, the staff were amazing...every single one. I had read a few comments about it being dated but it really isn't. It's a charming, beautiful, historic building located next to the Nile. The food in all the restaurants we tried was amazing. The pool area is beautiful and so relaxing. The whole hotel is so clean. . As for the comments about the cars beeping....you are in a major city, the cars beep all day...it's their way of driving. It didn't bother us (and we live in Devon so not used to the noise) the hotel is a paradise in the middle of a very busy, loud place. Once your hotel patio door is shut you do not hear anything, so a peaceful night's sleep. We will be coming back to stay here when we visit again next year.

the most comfortable, huge bed we have ever had Pillows were perfect too. Lovely view of the Nile. Dressing gowns and slippers, fluffy towels all made it feel very luxurious. the Palace part of the hotel is beautiful, worth a look at the function rooms upstairs. The pool area is very clean with padded sunbeds and large. fluffy towels all set out for you. Bar service readily at your sunbed. Pool side and garden food very tasty and reasonably priced. The Saraya restaurant was a lovely experience but a lot more expensive and service a little slower. We stayed in 3 other hotels in Giza and Cairo during our stay. This was by far the best and actually deserves its 5 star staus.

This Marriott is unlike an ordinary hotel. Yes, there are incredible views of the Nile, it has 14 restaurants (with delicious food), the rooms are immaculately decorated and clean, and it includes a lovely private pool for guests. More than that is its history. It was initially built as a palace by former King of Egypt in the late 1800s, before being bought by Marriott in the 1980s. And walking around and inside, it really does feel grand like a palace. The architecture is one of a kind with the grand Golden Arches surrounding the brickwork. The staff are excited to give a brief history and even a tour of the building. You go for a hotel but you have an experience.

Beautiful garden; big warm pool; fabulous interior of the palace (middle section between the two towers); good security at all entrances. ATM's at the hotel. My Deluxe King Room was spacious, equipped with all you need; loved the balcony with garden/side river view. In all locations, very friendly and helpful staff; excellent food - be it at the pool or in one of the restaurants (had one of the best Bruschettas and mushroom soups at the Saraya Gallery restaurant (Tuscany restaurant was closed)). The Bakery served delicious warm croissants and cappuccinos. Excellent, nicely presented breakfast buffet.

Our room was extremely large. We had an upgrade to the Presidential Suite - and it was really quite an experience. It is decorated in a very regional style - which is beautiful but might not appeal to everyone - but it was absolutely huge and the bed was so comfortable. We had a whole suite of rooms - with numerous balconies and fantastic views. It was really quite special. We have stayed in a whole host of hotels in Egypt - but the terrace and pool area at this hotel is our favourite one in the country. It is absolutely unbeatable in our opinion.
